How to play

INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE GAME LISTING

Classic Sudoku Game. Click on a cell to enter a number. You can enter numbers from 1..9. Every number can only occur once per row, column and 9x9 box. To delete a number using the numeric keypad in the game, you must enter the number again.

03

Easy steps for beginners

Think of Sudoku Classic like this:

  1. Each box, row and column must contain each number once - no repeats.
  2. Look at the empty cells and cross out numbers that already appear in that row, column or box.
  3. The number left over is the only one that can go there.
  4. Type the number in, or tap the cell and choose it.
  5. Stop when every empty cell is filled - then check for mistakes.

In one sentence: Fill every empty cell so each row, column and box contains the right numbers exactly once.

04

Your goal & how to win

TARGET
Fill every empty cell so each row, column and box contains the right numbers exactly once.
WIN
A complete, correct grid.

SCORING: Time, hints used, and mistakes.

Milestones to aim for while you learn:

  • Scan the whole grid for a number that appears 8 times - the ninth spot is forced.
  • Never start in an empty row; start where a row, column and box all have many clues.
05

Controls & buttons

  • Mouse click or tap
  • Most games on zbani.com work on a computer with a mouse and also on a phone or tablet with taps and swipes, so you can play either way.
06

Skills to practice

These are suggested skills to practice while playing, not a promise of improved memory, learning, or school performance.

Sudoku Classic trains several mental skills at the same time. Here is what each one does and why it is worth playing:

  • Logical deduction - you learn that the answer can be worked out, not guessed.
  • Working memory - you hold a row, column and box in mind at once.
  • Systematic checking - you verify with rules instead of hoping.
  • Patience and persistence - a hard grid trains you to stay with a problem.

Why it is good for kids in particular:

  • The rules are short and the feedback is instant, so young players stay motivated and build confidence quickly.
  • Every round is short, which fits into a school break without losing focus.
  • It is a screen skill that transfers off the screen: reading instructions, counting, planning and spotting mistakes all show up in everyday tasks.
07

Tips & strategies

  • Scan the whole grid for a number that appears 8 times - the ninth spot is forced.
  • Never start in an empty row; start where a row, column and box all have many clues.
  • Use pencil marks mentally: mark the candidates, then strike out as you go.
  • If a mistake appears, undo it - an early mistake can create five later ones.
  • Play a few rounds before you try to be clever. Learn the simple rhythm first; the advanced tricks only work once the basics are automatic.
  • If you keep losing at the same point, that point is your training goal.
  • Short daily practice beats one long session, and it is how the real skills (planning and control) actually improve.
08

Friendly challenges

Keep challenges friendly and free. No money, purchases, or prizes are needed to enjoy the game.

zbani.com games are free and there is no real-money wagering here. If you play with friends, these are the fair, fun challenges people use:

  • Friendly challenge: finish a puzzle with zero notes and zero hints.
  • Friendly challenge: solve the easy puzzle in under half your usual time.
  • Friendly challenge: three-in-a-row streak - one finish each day, no breaks.
  • Friendly challenge: pause-and-resume test - leave mid-puzzle and finish it correctly.
  • If you do bet something, bet a real-world thing: the loser makes tea, the loser chooses the next game, the loser does the washing up.
  • Play-money only, and never bet money you cannot afford to lose.
09

Reward & badge ideas

Ideas for the future. The stars, badges, and Best Player board described below are proposals. They are not currently awarded or tracked by zbani.com.

Stars. Earn stars for playing well in Sudoku Classic:

  • A correct finish is 20 stars; no notes doubles it to 40.
  • Stars are kept on your profile, so you can see your total growing over time rather than only your best single round.

Badges to collect:

  • No Notes - solve with no pencil marks
  • Pure Logic - solve with zero hints
  • Speed Cubed - finish a daily puzzle under 5 minutes
  • Streak 30 - 30 daily solves in a row
  • Full Grid - complete every difficulty level
  • Clean Sweep - finish a round without losing a life
  • Speed Star - finish under the target time
  • Combo Master - reach a 10x multiplier
  • Comeback Kid - win from last place or lowest score
  • Daily Player - play 7 days in a row

The Best Player board for Sudoku Classic:

  • The top scores and best times for Sudoku Classic are listed on a 'Best Player' board for that game, so there is always a target to aim at.
  • Beating your own score is the first milestone. Beating someone else on the board is the second. Both are worth celebrating.
  • Board spots should reset when the game is updated or the difficulty changes, so the ranking always means something.

Reward idea for a family or class:

  • Collect 10 stars for a sticker, 50 stars for a real reward, and 200 stars for 'Game Master of the Month'. Kids remember the badge far longer than the score, and it rewards steady practice instead of one lucky round.

About this guide

Sections 1, 2, 4, 5 and 11 come from the official Sudoku Classic game pages on zbani.com. Sections 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are written by a helper tool from the official description and the kind of game it is: they are guidance for players, not official rules from the publisher.

Sections 8 and 9 describe friendly challenges and a rewards idea for a family, class or community. zbani.com does not run real-money betting, and the 'Best Player' board described here is a suggestion for a leaderboard, not an existing zbani.com feature.

Word count of this card: about 1346 words.
